Melanoma is not only one of the most aggressive cancers of the skin, but also one of the most aggressive cancers overall. Melanoma cases are reported all over the world. Therefore, the subject of the project is an important product on the national and foreign markets. Moreover, cancer incidence affects both women and men, with both genders having been increasing for years.
In the case of tumors in the initial stage of development, a fragment of the skin is removed with a margin of healthy tissue. After the procedure, the area where the tissue is cut is secured with a sterile dressing and bandaged. Then, natural tissue regeneration processes take place. It is extremely important to take care of the skin after the removal of the neoplastic lesion. The skin should then be intensely moisturized to strengthen the epidermal barrier and restore its elasticity.
The aim of the project entitled: “Development of a cosmetic intended for skin care of people after removal of neoplastic lesions” is to implement a cosmetic for skin care after removal of neoplastic lesions. This cosmetic, in addition to moisturizing, will also have a selective effect on cells – inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells, without affecting normal cells. This is a feature of the cosmetic that will distinguish it from other oncological cosmetics that are limited only to moisturizing the skin.
The cosmetics market is very large, but oncological cosmetics are still a market niche. Oncological cosmetics should show a moisturizing and regenerating effect. In addition, they should be safe and should not irritate the skin. The preparation with the best selective effect consisting in inhibiting the growth of neoplastic cells with the simultaneous lack of inhibition of normal cells will be selected for implementation.
The oncological cosmetic developed as part of the project entitled “The development of a cosmetic intended for the care of the skin of people after the removal of neoplastic lesions” is dedicated to people after melanoma treatment (chemotherapy and radiotherapy), whose skin needs, first of all, moisturizing and elasticity. The content of polyphenols in the composition of the cosmetic contributes to the protection of the skin against the harmful effects of free radicals. In addition, the safety of the product has been confirmed in advanced studies using artificial leather. This study is the most innovative study available on the market that confirms the safety of the product.
